Field Notes
Studies in place and process
Field Notes is a series of personal projects built around place and process. Each entry documents a specific environment, the experience of being there, and the things I came to understand that I did not expect to. These are not assignments. Some are close to home. Some are not. They are the projects I create because I want to, the subjects I choose because they interest me, and the images I make when no one is asking for anything in particular.
Bushveld
A week in the South African bush where lions, elephants, and wild dogs have no interest in being photographed. Learning how to see.
Hanna Farms
Returning to the family farm years later and learning that continuity can exist alongside change.
Overnight on the Platte River
Overnight in a blind on the Platte River in sub-zero temperatures. The moment I came for never arrived. The one I didn't expect came the evening before.
